1. Overview

This Enrollment Policy outlines the requirements, expectations, and procedures for students participating in Brill Academy programs. By enrolling in our programs, parents, guardians, and students agree to comply with this policy.

This policy should be read in conjunction with our TERMS OF SERVICE and PRIVACY POLICY.

 


 

2. Eligibility and Enrollment

2.1 Age Requirements

Brill Academy programs are designed for middle school students ages 12-14. Students outside this age range may be considered on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the program director.

2.2 Enrollment Process

To enroll in a Brill Academy program:

  1. Select a Program: Choose from 4-Week Intensive, 8-Week Accelerator, or Brill Academy Private (1:1)
  2. Complete Enrollment Form: Parent or guardian must complete the enrollment form with accurate student and contact information
  3. Submit Payment: Full tuition payment is required to secure enrollment
  4. Receive Confirmation: You will receive an enrollment confirmation email with program details, schedules, and access instructions

2.3 Enrollment Capacity

  • Cohort programs are limited to 8-10 students per session
  • Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Programs may fill quickly; early enrollment is recommended

2.4 Waitlist

If a cohort is full, families may join a waitlist. If a spot becomes available, waitlisted families will be notified in the order they joined the waitlist.

 


 

3. Tuition and Payment

3.1 Tuition Rates

  • 4-Week Intensive: $4,500
  • 8-Week Accelerator: $9,000
  • Brill Academy Private (8-week 1:1): $15,000

3.2 Payment Terms

  • Full tuition is due upon enrollment
  • Payment must be received before the student can access program materials or attend sessions
  • Accepted payment methods: Credit card, bank transfer, or wire transfer (processed through Stripe)

3.3 No Refund Policy

All tuition payments are non-refundable once enrollment is confirmed. No refunds will be issued for:

  • Student withdrawal for any reason
  • Missed sessions due to student absence
  • Dissatisfaction with program content
  • Technical issues on the student's end
  • Personal or family circumstances

We encourage families to carefully review program details and ask questions before enrolling.

 


 

4. Program Schedule and Attendance

4.1 Schedule

All programs run on Saturdays, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM PT via live, instructor-led virtual sessions.

  • 4-Week Intensive: 4 Saturday sessions (3 hours each)
  • 8-Week Accelerator: 8 Saturday sessions (3 hours each)
  • Brill Academy Private: 8 weekly sessions (3 hours each), with flexible scheduling arranged directly with the program director

Specific session dates are provided at enrollment and may be adjusted with reasonable notice.

4.2 Attendance Requirements

Regular attendance is essential for student success. Students are expected to:

  • Attend all scheduled live sessions
  • Arrive on time and remain for the full duration
  • Come prepared with any assigned work or materials

4.3 Absences

If a student must miss a session:

  • Parents must notify Brill Academy as soon as possible via email
  • No makeup sessions are provided for cohort programs (4-week and 8-week)
  • Recordings of sessions are not available
  • Students are responsible for staying current with program work

Excessive absences (missing 2 or more sessions) may affect the student's ability to complete the program successfully and receive graduation credentials.

4.4 Tardiness

Repeated tardiness (arriving more than 10 minutes late) disrupts the learning environment. If tardiness becomes a pattern, parents will be contacted to address the issue.

 


 

5. Technical Requirements

5.1 Required Technology

To participate in Brill Academy programs, students must have:

  • Computer or laptop with camera and microphone (tablets and phones are not recommended)
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection
  • Zoom or equivalent video conferencing software (specific platform details provided at enrollment)
  • Quiet, distraction-free workspace for attending sessions

5.2 Technical Support

Brill Academy is not responsible for technical issues on the student's end, including:

  • Internet connectivity problems
  • Device malfunctions or compatibility issues
  • Software installation or access problems

Families should test their technology setup before the first session and contact us immediately if issues arise.

 


 

6. Student Conduct and Expectations

6.1 Code of Conduct

Students are expected to:

  • Treat instructors, advisors, and fellow students with respect
  • Participate actively and constructively in all sessions
  • Complete assigned work with honesty and integrity
  • Refrain from disruptive, inappropriate, or offensive behavior
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding other students' ideas and work

6.2 Academic Integrity

Students must produce original work. Plagiarism, copying, or misrepresenting the work of others is prohibited and may result in program removal without refund.

6.3 Disciplinary Action

Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in:

  • First offense: Verbal warning and notification to parents
  • Repeated violations: Written warning and parent meeting
  • Serious or continued violations: Immediate removal from the program without refund

Serious violations include, but are not limited to:

  • Harassment, bullying, or threats toward others
  • Sharing inappropriate or offensive content
  • Intentional disruption of sessions
  • Violation of other students' privacy or intellectual property

 


 

7. Parental Involvement and Communication

7.1 Parental Responsibilities

Parents and guardians are expected to:

  • Ensure the student has the necessary technology and workspace
  • Support the student's time commitment and participation
  • Monitor the student's progress and engagement
  • Respond promptly to communications from Brill Academy
  • Address any behavioral or attendance issues

7.2 Communication Channels

Brill Academy communicates with families via:

  • Email: Primary method for announcements, updates, and individual correspondence
  • Private learning platform: Access to office hours, resources, and community discussions (when implemented)

Parents should check email regularly and ensure our messages are not marked as spam.

 


 

8. Program Completion and Credentials

8.1 Requirements for Completion

To successfully complete a Brill Academy program and receive graduation credentials, students must:

  • Attend at least 75% of scheduled sessions (3 of 4 sessions for 4-week; 6 of 8 sessions for 8-week)
  • Complete all core assignments and deliverables
  • Participate in demo day presentation
  • Demonstrate good faith effort and engagement throughout the program

8.2 Graduation Package

Students who successfully complete the program receive:

  • Brill Academy Founder Credential: Frameable certificate and unique founder medallion
  • Comprehensive Venture Portfolio: Professional document showcasing their business concept, research, financials, and pitch deck
  • Personalized Evaluation Letter: Detailed assessment from the program director with strengths, growth areas, and next steps

8.3 Incomplete Programs

Students who do not meet completion requirements will not receive the full graduation package. Parents will be notified if completion is at risk.

 


 

9. Withdrawal Policy

9.1 Student-Initiated Withdrawal

If a student withdraws from the program for any reason after enrollment:

  • No refund of tuition will be issued, regardless of timing or circumstances
  • The student forfeits access to all program materials and sessions
  • The student will not receive graduation credentials

9.2 Program-Initiated Removal

Brill Academy reserves the right to remove a student from the program for:

  • Violation of the Code of Conduct
  • Excessive absences without communication
  • Non-compliance with program requirements
  • Behavior that disrupts the learning environment

In cases of program-initiated removal, no refund will be issued.

 


 

10. Program Changes and Cancellations

10.1 Schedule Changes

Brill Academy reserves the right to:

  • Adjust session dates or times with at least 7 days' notice (when possible)
  • Substitute instructors or advisors as needed
  • Modify curriculum content to improve program quality

Families will be notified of any material changes as soon as possible.

10.2 Program Cancellation by Brill Academy

If Brill Academy cancels a program due to unforeseen circumstances:

  • Families will be offered the option to transfer to a future cohort
  • All enrolled families will receive a full refund of tuition paid if they choose not to transfer
  • Refunds will be processed within 14 business days via the original payment method

 


 

11. Intellectual Property and Student Work

11.1 Ownership of Student Work

Students retain full ownership of the business concepts, ideas, and creative work they develop during the program.

11.2 Use of Student Work

By enrolling, parents grant Brill Academy limited permission to:

  • Use student work for educational purposes within the program (feedback sessions, demo days, evaluations)
  • Feature anonymized examples of student work in program materials (without identifying information)

Brill Academy will not:

  • Use student work in public marketing materials without separate written parental consent
  • Claim ownership of student ideas or intellectual property
  • Share student work with third parties for commercial purposes

11.3 Brill Ventures Showcase

Students who successfully complete the program are invited to participate in the bi-annual Brill Ventures Showcase, where they may pitch their businesses to professional investors. Participation in the showcase requires separate consent and is optional.

 


 

12. Privacy and Data Use

Brill Academy collects and uses student information in accordance with our PRIVACY POLICY. Key points include:

  • We collect only information necessary to provide educational services
  • Student data is stored securely on Google Cloud infrastructure
  • We comply with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) for students under 13
  • Parents have the right to review, request deletion of, or revoke consent for their child's information

13. Limitation of Liability

Brill Academy provides high-quality entrepreneurship education but cannot guarantee specific outcomes. We are not liable for:

  • Student success in developing viable or fundable businesses
  • Student acceptance to future educational programs
  • Student ability to secure funding or launch businesses after the program
  • Technical issues on the student's end that affect participation

Our commitment is to deliver professional instruction, expert mentorship, and structured guidance. Student outcomes depend on individual effort, creativity, and circumstances beyond our control.

 


 

14. Modifications to This Policy

Brill Academy reserves the right to update this Enrollment Policy at any time. Material changes will be communicated via:

  • Updated policy posted on our website with a new "Last Updated" date
  • Email notification to enrolled families

Continued participation in our programs after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
